The City of Plant City has announced that Mayor Nate Kilton has been re-elected unopposed after no challengers qualified for the Group 1 seat before the filing deadline on February 21st. Kilton, who is a former co-owner of the Plant City Observer, had previously expressed his intent to run for re-election in a February 6th article, where he was featured alongside Commissioner Jason Jones, who is also seeking re-election. Nate Kilton will now enter into his 4th term as a Plant City Commissioner. Jason Jones will be running for his second term for Plant City Commissioner after he was elected unopposed in 2022 after Rick Lott retired from the Plant City Commission.
With Kilton securing his position uncontested, attention now shifts to the Group 2 race, where incumbent Jason Jones will face challenger Camyrn Henry in the upcoming election on April 8th.
To participate in the city election, residents must be registered to vote with the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections by March 10th. Only those who reside within Plant City’s municipal boundaries are eligible to cast a ballot in this election.
