JBL Lake Walden LLC has submitted plans to enhance its property portfolio with a state-of-the-art, three-story self-storage facility. The proposed development will join a bustling retail and service hub that includes popular destinations such as Premiere Cinemas Plant City, Domino’s, Conviva Care, and the newly opened strip mall featuring Smoothie King and AT&T.

Having acquired both Lake Walden Square and the neighboring Winn-Dixie shopping center for a combined $29 million in 2018, JBL Lake Walden LLC has steadily invested in the area. Most recently, the company expanded the plaza with new leasing spaces adjacent to Fazoli’s, now under construction. Should the self-storage project move forward, only one more development pad would remain, located between the proposed facility and Conviva Care, currently an open green space.

Project Details and Community Impact

The proposed self-storage facility will feature a footprint of 42,000 square feet and a total building area of 126,000 square feet across three floors. The site, currently a parking lot, is slated for transformation into a modern, secure storage solution catering to the growing needs of the community.

In recent months there has been complaints from customers at the shopping center and patients that go to the medical facilities there of students from neighboring Plant City High School using the parking lot instead of paying for a parking permit at Plant City High School. With this proposed development it is possible that it could push the students out and force them to park at the high school, or it could make the situation worse and cause them to try parking closer to the shopping center buildings and continue to occupy parking spaces.

Continued Growth in Plant City

If approved, this facility will mark the third self-storage development in Plant City within five years, reflecting increasing demand and the city’s evolving landscape. JBL Lake Walden LLC’s commitment to thoughtful expansion and community enhancement positions this project as a valuable addition to the area, providing residents and businesses with much-needed storage options while supporting local economic growth.

With this latest endeavor, JBL Lake Walden LLC continues to shape the future of Lake Walden Square, fostering a vibrant, multi-use destination for shopping, services, and now, premium storage solutions.

One response to “JBL Lake Walden LLC Unveils Plans for New Three-Story Self-Storage Facility in Plant City”

  1. I feel we have too many self storage units now. We need places like maybe a bowling alley or even something for the kids like the fun center in Lakeland. In my opinion we have more gas stations and storage units than this little town really needs.
also we need to start reusing buildings that are closed down. Let’s make plant city beautiful again.
